Jute is a natural, sustainable material that is suitable for hardwearing floormats, carpets, bags, macrame, weaving, knitting, crochet and other textile arts and mixed media.
Jute comes from a 12 month old tropical plant that grows in naturally moist conditions in Bangladesh and does not require irrigation. The dyes used to produce the colours of this jute are OEKO TEX standard. Jute cord is produced by plying together 8 singles strands, making a very strong yarn. A dirt-repellent treatment has been added to this yarn.
